Central Michigan Goldstars Hosts 3D Regional for Michigan S3DA

Williamsburg, KY – Central Michigan Goldstars recently held the largest Michigan S3DA 3D regional to date at the Central Michigan Sportsman Club in Stanton, Michigan. Over 100 youth archers from nine teams across the state met to compete. Each participant that completed the course qualified for the upcoming Michigan S3DA 3D State Championship. With storms predicted, everyone closely watched the skies and tried to keep their wet weather gear close. As the start time grew closer, the clouds parted, and the sun poked through. It turned out to be a beautiful day!

Many of the archers and their family members commented that the course was great. Quite a few archers ended the day with their highest scores ever. Even those that did not shoot their personal best were all smiles because they got to spend time in the woods doing what they love and being with their friends. One parent had commented that it was amazing to see all of the children from the Jr. Eagle Division all the way up to the Young Adult Division sharing high-fives, fistbumps, compliments, words of encouragement, and pats on the back. This kindness and discipline is seen in every age group.

Michigan S3DA State Coordinator, Cara Waite, was elated with how the day went and the growth she has seen in her time with the program. She said, “I am very excited to see the sport grow like it has and with this many children participating. Michigan is not only growing in numbers, but we are also growing in disciplines. We have seen a huge increase in our barebow and olympic recurve classes. It is really great to see the growing enthusiasm and dedication from our archers, which is not only enhancing their skills, but also contributing to the rich tradition of archery.”
