Just two years into his competitive shooting career, K-80 shooter Kazim Muhammad accomplished a remarkable feat by winning the 2021 World Helice Championship in Cairo, Egypt. Kazim broke 29/30 targets which entered him into a three-way shoot-off for top honors. Confident throughout, Kazim displayed incredible focus and broke every target thrown during the finals to be crowned 2021 World Helice Champion.

The 15-year old started competing with his K-80 Parcours in 2019 and won the Junior National Helice Championship title that same year. In 2020, Kazim not only repeated as Junior National Helice Champion but also clinched the overall title earning him the distinct honor of being the #1 ranked Helice shooter in the United States. After winning the Junior National title for the third time in 2021, Kazim decided to travel to Cairo, Egypt, and take on the challenges of the World Helice Championship.

“Always trust your process,” Kazim summed up his approach to handling the pressure of competing at such a high level. Kazim focused on his process throughout the competition and made breaking targets one at a time his sole goal.

Persistence and mental strength, two elements of Kazim’s process, helped this young champion triumph over the strong field of almost 300 competitors from 20 countries. During the World Helice Championships, Kazim also won the Junior title in the Grand Prix of Egypt and the Africa Helice Championship.

As a Helice competitor, Kazim faced targets with short and unpredictable flight paths designed to simulate a bird in flight. Helice targets have wings that give the target flight. The shooter must dislodge the wings from the white target. Next, the white target must fall in a designated area to be counted as a score.
