'Tis the season for AZGFD's list, including last-minute items that can be purchased online

The holidays are sneaking up on everybody. In fact, it’s getting late to be making that list and checking it twice.

It’s time to pull the trigger, so to speak, on something for that special outdoors person. Below are five ideas, most of which can be purchased online 24/7 from the Arizona Game and Fish Department (www.azgfd.gov).

• Buy a license. This is a gift that keeps on giving 365 days from the date of purchase. For $57 – or less than 16 cents a day – you can buy someone an Arizona resident combination hunting and fishing license online, then print it from your computer once your purchase is complete. And don’t forget the kids. For only $5, you can buy a youth combination hunting and fishing license (ages 10 to 17).

• This hits the mark. Why not give yourself or that special recreational shooter in your life a fun experience at the world-class Ben Avery Shooting Facility (BASF)? • Put bows on books. Looking for a gift for a history buff, or someone who just enjoys reading about wildlife? Then consider the Arizona Wildlife History Series, which examines the history of wildlife in Arizona from 1824 to 1962 in three publications: “Bringing Back the Game: Arizona Wildlife Management, 1912–1962” ($19.95), “Arizona Wildlife: The Territorial Years, 1863–1912” ($14.95), and “Man and Wildlife in Arizona: The American Exploration Period, 1824–1865” ($14.95). The books are sold as single copies at the cover price, or at a substantial discount as a three-volume set for $34.95. Many more books and other publications also are available at the department’s main office in Phoenix, or any regional office statewide.

• Caps, shirts and more. Game and Fish offers all kinds of logoed T-shirts and baseball-style caps at the department’s main office in Phoenix. Also check out the gift shops at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility’s main range and Clay Target Center, which carry several styles of cool-looking sweatshirts, coffee mugs and other items.
