Virginia: Switchblade Concealed Carry Legalized

As of tomorrow, July 1st, concealed carry of automatic knives is legal in Virginia. This follows on from our repeal last year of Virginia’s ban on switchblades (automatic) knives that did not include repeal of the ban on concealed carry.

NOTE: Dirks, stilettos and daggers remain prohibited from concealed carry in Virginia.

NOTE: Because there is not yet Knife Law Preemption in Virginia, local laws may still limit what knives can be carried and how. We are not yet done in Virginia. Click, here to research local knife laws in Florida.

We again express our appreciation to Delegate Lee Ware for sponsoring this bill. Thanks also to our good friends at the Virginia Citizens Defense League and especially, President Philip Van Cleave. Knife Rights will continue to work with our friends in Virginia to remove all knife restrictions in the future.

Florida: Permitless Carry (Including Knives)

Knife Rights supported Florida Permitless Carry goes into effect tomorrow, July 1st, and concealed carry of a knife in Florida without a permit will no longer be limited to a "pocket knife."

NOTE: Because there is not yet Knife Law Preemption in Florida, local laws may still limit what knives can be carried and how. We are not yet done in Florida. Click, here to research local knife laws in Florida.

Thanks once again to our friends at Florida Carry and Executive Director Sean Caranna, who helped ensure that knives were included in this bill and all the work they did on it.

Tennessee: Pocket Knife Carry at Polls Legalized

In Tennessee, carry of pocket knives by adults voting on school grounds on an election day is legal as of tomorrow, July 1st. We sincerely appreciate sponsor Senator Joey Hensley’s efforts to get this commonsense knife carry reform bill passed. We hope this new law becomes a model for the rest of the nation.

At this point, Tennessee is one of the most "knife friendly" states in country. Our efforts in Tennessee have, indeed, Rewritten Knife Law in this Volunteer State. Starting with our signature Knife Law Preemption in 2013, we followed that in 2014 by repealing the state’s ban on switchblade (automatic) knives and carry of knives with blades over 4 inches.
