Mike Gibson of MGM Targets announced this month that they have acquired Flash Targets from Kristi Cohen, widow of the inventor of the Flash Target Dr. Larry Cohen. Dr. Cohen, AKA "The Durango Kid" as he was known to his SASS colleagues, sadly passed away last August. Mike stated that he was saddened by the loss of his friend who meant so much to the shooting sport. "He worked hard at promoting the sport and was so innovative in his approach. He brought many new layers of competition to SASS including the 'Regulators' who help run the events and the 'Posse' system which are both standard in their events today. I know he will be sorely missed."
Dr. Cohen's widow, Kristi, and Mike recently came to an agreement to buy out the Flash Target product line. The Flash Target is a wonderful shooting sensor system which is a great tool in long-range rifle competition. The Flash Target was created to confirm bullet impacts by generating a flash each time the target is struck. The sensor simply applies to the back of impenetrable metal target. When struck, the strobe light flashes back to the shooter distinguishable at a distance of up to 1000 yards. The resulting flash confirms successful hits for both the shooters and the spectators. It is very portable and easy to set up.
MGM Targets is slightly changing the name "Flash Target" to the "Electronic Flash Target" to eliminate any confusion its customers may have with an existing steel target in their line also named "Flash Target." Mike Gibson enthusiastically proclaimed, "This is an exciting addition to the MGM Targets product line. The Electronic Flash Target is perfect for long range events competitions. It makes spotting scopes unnecessary as the bright flash leaves no doubt whether a target has been hit. It is a system that I feel confident will be adopted by a lot of ranges and matches across the United States."
MGM Targets has already started selling the Electronic Flash Target from their facility in Caldwell, ID and it can be ordered through the website
www.flashtarget.com or by calling MGM Targets directly at 888-767-7371.
Mike Gibson who is travelling home from a very successful MGM sponsored Jr. Camp in Ft. Benning, GA wanted to mention that he was very thankful for all the sponsors at this year's event. He wanted to thank a few sponsors who had not been mentioned before but helped the camp with their kind donations. Those would include Safariland, Burwell Gunsmithing, Atlanta Arms and Ammunition and Sanders Lead. Mike and Rhonda Gibson expressed their thanks to all of the sponsors who made this event so successful.
