First-Ever All-Ladies Squad Shoots IDPA Indoor Nationals

AUSTIN, TX – A Girl & A Gun Women's Shooting League (AG & AG) hosted the first-ever all-ladies squad at the IDPA Smith & Wesson Indoor National Championship. The AG & AG squad shot on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.

The nine ladies on the AG & AG squad traveled from across the country. For most of the ladies this was their first experience at an indoor match and shooting competitively in low light. Almost all participants were classified as Marksman, and AG & AG Founder Julianna Crowder was very proud of their showing. She said, "The squad was very well prepared for the match. They arrived with their range bags prepped, stage designs printed and in hand, with planned nutrition. I was impressed with their preparation and mindset."

The squad shot 13 stages overall and experienced the elaborate decorations and props characteristic of an indoor match. One stage that themed Northern Lights resembled a dark cave with strobe lights and trees. It was representative of the challenging and fun stages at the match. While there were mistakes and lessons learned about equipment and firearm failures, the ladies had a great experience. Susan Syme of Connecticut said, "It was an awesome experience and I am very grateful to have been a part of it."

The emcee of the awards banquet offered special recognition to the AG & AG squad. Of the 30-40 ladies competing in the match the AG & AG squad comprised 10%; however, nearly all of the female competitors were members, instructors, or friends of A Girl & A Gun. IDPA continues to be supportive of women participants and welcomes women to participate in major matches as well as leadership roles.

A Girl & A Gun has been invited to host a squad at IDPA World Championships. The league has already submitted a stage design and expects to have AG & AG staff running the stage.
