Springfield Armory® Kuna™ Wins First Ever Ballistic's Best Gun of the Year Award
GENESEO, ILL. – Springfield Armory® is proud to announce that the Kuna™ 9mm has been awarded the first ever Ballistic's Best 2025 Editors' Choice Award for "Best Gun of the Year." With more than 100 products tested across dozens of categories, the Kuna came out on top with this rare and esteemed honor — one that has never before been awarded for any firearm.
Put up against rigorous testing protocols by the Ballistic editorial team along with input from a select group of writers, all products considered for the Ballistic's Best Editors' Choice Awards were held to the highest of standards.
"The 'Best Gun of The Year' award is reserved for a firearm that pushes the envelope in engineering, value, performance and that 'wow factor.' The Kuna did that," said Linas Cernauskas, Content Director for Bleecker Street Publications. "We got our hands on the Kuna the very day it was announced and it was love at first sight — the kind of love that makes editors ignore budgets and start rationalizing personal purchases. By the end of the month, our entire team had bought one for themselves."
Developed in partnership with HS Produkt, the roller-delayed Kuna 9mm is a precision-manufactured PDW designed for optimal fit and function. Its small profile, nimble handling and prolific capacity make it a fierce personal defense platform. Named after the European Pine Marten (known in Croatia as the "Kuna"), the firearm represents the pinnacle of the companies' shared mission and values.
Offered with an optional Strike Industries FSA folding brace, the fully ambidextrous Kuna 9mm pistol employs a rugged monolithic aluminum upper, a cold radial hammer forged 6" barrel, and translucent 30-round magazines that feature metal feed lips for exceptional durability. In addition, the Kuna features an AR-pattern pistol grip with Adaptive Grip Texture. Rounding out the package is a set of unique adjustable hybrid flip-up metal sights. MSRP for the Kuna starts at $1,020, with the folding brace model priced at $1,173.
"We're truly honored to have received this first-ever award from Ballistic," said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. "The Kuna quickly proved itself to be a winner with shooters since its launch, so it's gratifying to have it recognized with this esteemed award by the Ballistic team of editors and their writers."
