Kinetic Development Group Reaffirms Disciplined Approach to Optic Mount Development

As 2026 gains momentum, Kinetic Development Group is reaffirming its long-standing philosophy toward product development within the optic mount category—one grounded in disciplined engineering, real-world feedback, and long-term reliability.

Over the past several years, optic mounts have become one of the most critical components of modern rifle systems. With the continued expansion of optics platforms—from compact red dots to increasingly capable low-power variable optics—the mounting interface between rifle and optic has never been more important.

KDG entered the optic mount category with the SideLok series, which quickly became the company's flagship offering within the space. Designed to provide secure lockup, repeatable return-to-zero performance, and rugged dependability, the SideLok system helped establish KDG's reputation for purpose-built optic mounting solutions.

Rather than chasing short-term trends, KDG has taken a deliberate approach to evolving its optic mount offerings, focusing on thoughtful improvements informed by real-world user feedback.

"Optic mounts are foundational components of a rifle system," said Chris Bardugone, Director of Sales and Marketing at KDG. "If the mount doesn't perform, nothing else matters. That's why we take a very measured approach to development within this category."

While the SideLok series continues to serve as the cornerstone of KDG's optic mount lineup, the company confirms that internal development efforts are underway as part of its broader 2026 product roadmap.

"When we bring something new into the optic mount category, it's because it offers a clear advantage," Bardugone added. "It has to solve a real problem and integrate naturally with how shooters are actually configuring their rifles."

KDG plans to continue sharing updates as development efforts progress throughout the year.
