Last Call: Still Time to Participate in Gun Storage Check Week

NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is calling on gun owners, retailers, range operators and other firearm industry-related companies to participate in the final days of Gun Storage Check Week®. This national firearm safety awareness campaign kicked off Monday, June 1 and will conclude Sunday, June 7.

The goal of Gun Storage Check Week, observed at the start of National Safety Month, is to help prevent firearm accidents, especially those involving children, suicides and thefts. Throughout this week, the message of "Make Sure It's Secure®" has been promoted to millions of gun owners to help prevent unwanted access to firearms.

"Whether you're a gun owner or professional in the firearm industry, there are still ways to get involved and amplify Gun Storage Check Week's safety message to friends, family and loved ones," said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO. "As a gun owner, first and foremost, take a moment and evaluate your firearm storage practices. This is critical for preventing unauthorized access to firearms when not in use."

An Ongoing Conversation

As Gun Storage Check Week draws to a close, the conversation surrounding firearm safety and secure storage is a regular routine for gun owners. These practices prevent access by unsupervised children, individuals with suicidal thoughts and others who shouldn't have access to firearms.

Gun Storage Check Week will return for its second annual observance, Sept. 1–7, during National Suicide Prevention Month.
