CCW Safe Introduces New Vice President of Marketing & Ecommerce

Steve Blackford joins CCW Safe, bringing a wealth of experience in brand building to the company's leadership team.

CCW Safe, a national leader in self-defense legal services, is proud to announce the hire of Steve Blackford as Vice President of Marketing and Ecommerce. Blackford joins CCW Safe after 13 years at LifeLock, where he played a key role in building identity theft protection from a little-known category into a household name.

CCW Safe is thrilled to welcome Blackford to the team. His track record of scaling a nationally recognized consumer brand makes him a natural fit for the company's next chapter of growth.

"Steve brings exactly the kind of brand-building experience we need as we introduce more people to what CCW Safe offers," said Kent Brown, President of CCW Safe. "He's watched a category go from unknown to essential before, and that's precisely the opportunity in front of us. We couldn't be more excited to have him on the team."

In his new role, Blackford will lead brand strategy, demand generation, optimize the company's website and the member acquisition engine that connects more people with CCW Safe's self-defense legal plans.

Question: What are your main roles and responsibilities?

Blackford: I lead marketing and ecommerce for CCW Safe — brand, demand generation, the website and the member acquisition engine behind it. My job is to make sure the people who need this protection actually know it exists.

Question: What is your professional experience prior to joining CCW Safe? How do you feel that experience will help you succeed in introducing new members to CCW Safe's industry-leading services?

Blackford: I spent 13 years at LifeLock, building identity theft protection from an unknown category into a household one. The people who founded CCW Safe know this world far better than I do; but I'm looking forward to turning this category into a household one as well.

Question: What excites you most about working with CCW Safe?

Blackford: The company, the culture, the founders, the market — it all reminds me of early LifeLock, which was one of the most rewarding stretches of my career. And once you hear the origin story, it's hard not to want to do whatever it takes to make sure every firearm owner has the protection they need after they've protected themselves or their families.

Question: What does your life look like outside of work?

Blackford: Life outside of work is every bit as busy as life inside it. Between helping my wife get her new wedding business off the ground, running three kids to their various activities and keeping up with a dog, three cats and four chickens, there's always something going on. When spare time does show up, I'm usually on a golf course, figuring out something new on the Blackstone or at a country music concert.

About CCW Safe: CCW Safe was founded by retired police officers Mike Darter and Stan Campbell and attorney Kyle Sweet. The company started because of Darter's experience and knowledge of the coverage law enforcement had access to and the desire to make the same coverage and level of service available to the public for critical self-defense incidents. The company offers comprehensive plans for all private citizens, including retired and active-duty law enforcement officers and military members. Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, CCW Safe has emerged as the leader in self-defense coverage through one-of-a-kind service, comprehensive coverage and a team of experts in their respective fields.
