The launch follows guidance issued Oct. 9 by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) stating that the agency will no longer enforce National Firearms Act (NFA) approval and registration requirements for suppressors. Customers can now buy a suppressor the same way they would any other firearm, by completing ATF Form 4473 and passing a background check at a licensed dealer, with no Form 4 application, wait for ATF approval or federal registration requirement.
ATF issued the guidance after Attorney General Todd Blanche decided not to appeal Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF. In that case, a federal judge in the Northern District of Texas ruled Aug. 5 that the NFA's registration and approval requirements for suppressors exceed Congress' constitutional authority now that the federal tax on suppressors has been eliminated. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act reduced the $200 tax to $0, effective Jan. 1, 2026. While the court's order covered only the plaintiffs in that case, ATF's guidance applies nationwide.
Two Ways to Buy

- Ship to Dealer: Customers enter their ZIP code to see nearby options from a network of nearly 20,000 participating licensed dealers, with each dealer's transfer fee shown up front, and select the one that works best for them. After completing their purchase online, they pick up the suppressor at their chosen dealer, where they fill out ATF Form 4473 and pass a background check, the same process required to buy any other firearm.
Ship to Dealer is available to customers in 27 states. Customers in states with their own suppressor registration requirements can continue to buy through Front Door Delivery and the Form 4 process.
