Wilson Combat is proud to announce that the BULWARK has been named the 2026 Handgun of the Year by Guns & Ammo. The award is featured in the magazine's December 2026 issue, available online now and on newsstands November 3.

In the award feature, Guns & Ammo notes that for years, shooters asked for a pistol that combines the capacity and reliability of a compact duty gun with the trigger of a 1911, and that the BULWARK fulfilled that request in 2026. In their testing, the BULWARK "demonstrated flawless reliability and excellent accuracy." The editors concluded, "If a duty pistol could ever be considered an heirloom piece, the Bulwark would be it."

The BULWARK is an all-new design built to deliver the reliability, durability and refined shootability required in a concealed carry or duty handgun. Designed around a practical compact-duty footprint, it offers 15+1 capacity in 9mm while remaining cross compatible with many GLOCK® 19-pattern holsters. It is optics-ready, with a pin-based red-dot mounting system that provides a secure, repeatable interface for most modern pistol optics without requiring multiple plates.

At its core is an internal hammer-fired, single-action fire control: a modular, serialized stainless steel assembly with integrated frame rails. The BULWARK incorporates four independent safety mechanisms, including an ergonomic grip safety that blocks the sear and trigger until disengaged, a firing pin block and a trigger safety, providing redundant mechanical protection while maintaining intuitive, fast handling for concealed carry and duty use. The grip module is machined from billet aluminum and wrapped in Wilson Combat's BRICK pattern texture, paired with a stainless steel slide.
